THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal career is focused on family law. She has a love for it. She concentrates a large portion of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes, the distribution of marital property child custody battles child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues such as step-parent or private party adoptions as well as issues involving children's welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. Ashley mediates private cases and also court-appointed mediations for people who wish to avoid court processes and litigation.

After finishing her undergraduate education at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students in her class. While at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal scholarship and research.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the honor of serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown, Maryland, to serve as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Ashley's dedication to her work played a crucial role in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the care of their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice spanned far beyond her legal practice since she was actively a board member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force working tirelessly to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tri-state area.

In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law such as divorce, custody, child support and guardianships, as well in estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. The company was founded with the intention of providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
